How diminishing returns apply to life
and why you should know about it
What’s up Team,
hope you’re calm today! Writing this out of my 9 square meter room in Berlin, sipping caramel coffee, listening to jazz, while it’s raining outside.
That’s what I call good vibes.
In today's episode, I wanted to share a reminder that I need to hear regularly.
The more you want something, the less likely you’re going to get it
Desire is a great vehicle to achieve a goal.
It’s deliberately choosing to struggle now for something in the future.
But there is a point, after which more efforts & desire paradoxically bring you further away from your goal.
The concept of diminishing returns from economics applies here:
The more you want to be liked, the less you are.
The more you want to be calm, the less you are.
The more you want to make money, the less you are.
All desires should come from a place where nothing essential is missing. Everything else is an add-on.
Cheers
Niels
